Welcome!
OperaMom Blogs are a new and exciting addition to the OperaMom community. In addition to the OperaMom’s main site and web forum, these blogs will provide a supportive and informative resource for singing parents.
What do you write about in a blog?
A blog is a shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies. Write about your struggles and triumphs as a singer and parent. Write about your worries or the goals you are setting for yourself. Perhaps you have something to get off of your chest that has nothing to do with singing or parenting - we’d love to read it! If you’d rather keep your thoughts to yourself, make your blog private - it’s all up to you. Click here to sign up for your own free blog.

Well, this is my first Blog. I am not sure exactly what to write on it except perhaps some of my joys, concerns, and fears that I am facing going back to work singing in less than 2 weeks. I am fortunate that I picked up the paper that day in September 2004. I was searching for something to do, because even with all the wonderful new traits I had gained as a SAHMom to two beautiful children, I was missing a part of myself. I didn’t know that I would be meeting a wonderful group of singers, highly talented, yet still learning themselves. Most of the adult singers had music degrees of some sort. Not me. I wasn’t really sure what I was doing anyway. I just missed singing with a chorus terribly! I was really shy, as I always am, when I first joined O.P.E.R.A. founded by Solange Sior. I think I barely spoke five words in the entire first three months! But this group of people was awesome. Some were older than me, having kids in highschool (and beyond!) and some were younger, in college and highschool still. I felt a bit alone at 31, with a then five and a half year old and a three year old.
