Why OperaMom? Launched in June 2000, OperaMom evolved from necessity. At that time, there was not a forum that primarily addressed the unique challenge of being a mother and a professional opera singer at the same time. The mission of OperaMom is to provide information, support, and services to singing professionals with children. Exclusive interviews with famous operamoms, bi-weekly chats, pertinent articles, and an online support forum are examples of the regular features found here. Banner-free webhosting and email addresses are also offered - at no cost whatsoever. OperaMom's webdesign services are available at a low cost, and provide a professional and affordable solution. How often may I enter the OperaMom Quiz Question? One correct entry per household, per month is allowed. Do you sell or rent my email address? No. We will NEVER reveal your personal information to any outside party unless you clearly authorize it. Back to top of page Can I have my own OperaMom email address? Absolutely! All users at OperaMom are welcomed to have their own personal email address@operamom.com. You have the choice of a forwarding email address (meaning email sent to yourname@operamom.com would be forwarded to an already existing email address such as yourname@yahoo or yourname@hotmail), or you can have a regular, fully-functional email from which you can send and receive. Addresses are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Can I publish my website at OperaMom? Absolutely! If you have a personal website, OperaMom will host it for free. There are no annoying pop-up ads or banners (such as those found at other "free" webhosting services such as geocities.com or angelfire.com sites) and you can also include features such as streaming RealAudio/Video - for free! Nowhere else can you find this kind of service. Why does OperaMom offer these services for free? Are they really free? OperaMom is dedicated to serving and supporting singing professionals with children. It is our goal to promote success in the home AND on the stage. We firmly believe that the two are not mutually exclusive. Because these services require no extra cost to OperaMom, they can be offered for free to those who want them. There are no hidden costs, agreements, or obligations. OperaMom wants to see that singers are not denied professional online basics, simply because they are too busy (or too broke!) raising a family.Back to top of page How do I subscribe to the OperaMom newsletter? The handle of "Yoga" was given to OperaMom's Managing Director by another OperaMom user. Because Yoga would sign all of her correspondence with the initials OMM (OperaMom Manager), the comment was made that the letters looked as if she were chanting a mantra - thus the evolution of the name. Yoga's anonymity is preserved in order to avoid any presumed conflict of interest, or other problems such as those associated with self-serving pursuits. -
