- Advice regarding The Pill and the Voice
- Editor's note:
OperaMom is deeply grateful to Ms. Emerich for
her willingness to assist singers by contributing
this information.
| Kate Emerich, B.M., M.S., CCC-SLP
Voice Pathologist and Singing Voice Specialist at the Wilbur James Gould Voice Center, advises:
"Some combination pills may have a temporary lowering of the voice, making it somewhat difficult to sing in the upper part of the voice. Singers who perform internationally should be sure they fill their prescriptions in the U.S., as some pills outside the U.S. are less regulated and may contain androgenic agents that can permanently lower the voice."
